Sprint?

Anybody here have Sprint that can tell me about their experience?

I have a grandfathered unlimited data plan with Verizon, but f**k them for their new stupid plans, and I don't want to buy an unsubsidized iPhone if I don't have to.

I haven't used Sprint in a while now but when I had their service, I never had problems and found that I usually had better coverage (at least here in TX) than other providers. The only problem I had with them was their automatic billing system would usually take a crap once a year and I'd get double billed. Granted, the last time I had them was in 2007 so it may not be a problem any more.

If I were to get a personal phone now, I'd go with them purely for the unlimited data aspect.

I've been on Sprint for the better part of a decade now, and have always been very happy with their service. (Else I would've moved on by now...). Call quality has always been excellent, never any problems with dropped calls. Their data has usually been measured as slower than ATT and Verizon, but I've always been satisfied with it. I figure that being able to watch netflix on my phone is cool enough that I don't feel any need to gripe that its not as fast as wifi. And it truly is unlimited. No caps, no throttling, no shared data.

Now with LTE rolling out, the speed thing is less of an issue than it was. Bear in mind that the iphone is not LTE, and I don't know if the true unlimited data plan can survive contact with the LTE iphone 5.

It depends on the city you live in, eric. You're better off googling this as there are MBs that will probably have your answer. Sprint in one city can be great, another ass. In LA I've heard bad things.

I'm dealing with the same problem. My contract with Verizon expires September 18th but I don't want to pay $110 a month for f*cking phone service. I'm trying to save more money and I'm getting cheaper in the process...

But $110 a month at Verizon with the new iPhone gets you 450 minutes a month (I never use all of them), unlimited texts, and 1GB of data. Just 1GB. I wipe my ass with that. I had AT&T before this and they sucked balls. I had so many dropped calls. I'm looking at Sprint, Metro PCS, or T-Mobile. T-Mobile has a pretty shady "unlimited 4G" plan though...it's "unlimited" up to 100MB a month...after that the speeds revert to 2G.

wow. Verizon is $110 for unlimited text/talk and 4GB from their website, Kane. You're on some old plan you need to dump. $100 for 2GB.

AT&T is better now. Not many dropped calls.

AT&T has a similar plan. They also still have individual plans with limited minutes which is better than what you're paying. I really don't get how you pay $110,

I'm still on a family plan with my parents. Been over a decade and with they don't use their cell phones much outside of other AT&T people (which is free) and our 750 min + rollover is more than enough since I don't use the phone much to call during daytime hours. Only inconvenience is paying them once a month for my part.

Our plan will be $110 once I get the iphone (no texting, won't need it) for 750 + rollover and 3GB data. They have 2 dumbphones, of course. And this is a plan still being offered. Again, I can't believe you pay $110! You're getting robbed.

The share everything plans at Verizon bundle sh*t. Getting 1GB a month on a smartphone costs $90 a month. I used to pay $105 a month for unlimited text, data, and 450 mins talking time. In the time that I've had my phone things have reversed, minutes of talking time doesn't matter but data does. I haven't checked out at&t yet, maybe they're different. But with the $6 insurance tacked onto the $90 for a substandard 1gb I'm paying nearly $100 after surcharges and taxes, if not more. The $105 that I keep citing is what the monthly cost was in its totality after taxes.

All in all, it feels like a raw deal because I'm used to unlimited data.
