What's up with this? Had a woman in the store today who came with her mother. Her mom talked normally, and despite having no mental impediments, this chick was talking like a f**k six year old. I could barely stand it. She was doing this on purpose. Every word that came out was played up with this "cute," high-pitched pronunciation. I nearly strangled her to death.

And of course there is the Fagspeech phenomenon. Gay men who don't have lisps, but pretend they do because... well, I really don't know. Just because, I guess.

And of course the valley girl thing. What makes people do this shit? Why are you talking weirdly?

There's also white people who start talking with a black accent when they are around black people (I saw an interview with Quentin Tarantino in which he did this, it was embarrassing to watch), people who pretend like they have a raspy voice, people who use "babytalk" and other affectations.
