This is what you don't get. You look at the bad instead of the good. Have you even considered the cost of having 50 independent jurisdictions? It's the reason we have so many lawyers, and I'm sure the transaction costs easily are north of a trillion annually.
You see Colorado and Washington as a win. I see a doj that wouldn't bother enforcing any weed laws if up to them.
It's simply not easier to buy off one national government than a ton of state ones. Fact. State pols are f**k jokes, easily amenable to corruption and kickbacks because no one bothers to vote in state elections anyway. And no one has Ever bothered so let's not pretend people stay home because the fed has to much power.
Honestly, it's a f**k joke. It's part of the reason this country is finished. Have fun competing with china when you spend trillions in time and effort competing with yourself. It's like some of you still don't get the concept of economies of scale. It's like some of you still don't get the idea that states abuse their power just as easily as the fed. How long do you think slavery would have lasted in Alabama? Let me guess, that's not one of the things you are talking about.
It's really a f**k joke at this point. Why even be a country? I shit you not when I say living in Boston is much closer to living in England than living anywhere in the south. Why even f**k bother? Give every state some nukes for defense and let's just call an end to this project.
Federalism on this level is a f**k joke. That's why no one else has it or wants to try it. Just like the second amendment, another f**k joke that we cling to out of tradition and then look around bewildered when someone shoots up a school every week.
America is f**k finished because we are not bold. We don't adapt. We aren't innovating in terms of policy. Instead we look at an ancient document and make policy based on the wise words of a few slaveholders. It's really more akin to Saudi Arabia than any proper government. We can't try anything new, we can't break from the past, and we can't boldly go where no nation or people have gone before because people like you want to cling to what worked in the past instead of being bold and trying a new path.
But whatever man, be part of the problem. Go one nothing about how your government doesn't work while explaining why the fundamental tenants of your government are great. Ill hie to Asia, where government routinely cast aside old language and ways of governing for more practical alternatives.
