Attacking that place was a goal for months. They put it under surveillance and they waited until the optimal time. These guys were patrolling the area every day for months. That does not mean the video caused it - it means they incorporated it into their plan smartly. With all due respect you seem to want to deflect blame when I've already stated I'm not blaming anyone.

No matter how you look at it the security arrangements were very poor and totally inadequate. That is the tragedy here - that this could have been easily prevented with a minimal of foresight.

Because the American people should be utterly outraged that it was allowed to happen. Your ambassador got killed. That is a very big deal. I would want to know that those responsible for the security lapse got canned big time.

It wasn't so much a security "lapse" as it was an embassy with regrettable location in a country torn apart by rebellion, unrest, and violent extremists. When the attack began, the embassy was obvious unable to defend itself without military support. The closest military support, had they been suited up, on the runway, waiting for a call to action, still would have not arrived soon enough. The first place to turn, obviously, is that there should have been more security/military support permanently stationed on site at the embassy, but what they had was standard, so now we're talking about a change to the standard policy going forward to prevent future incidents of this kind. Not a security lapse.
