For all of eynon and comrade's attempts to explain to me what a medieval battle looked like, I still couldn't quite picture it until I started watching this video and then I immediately knew this is exactly what you guys had been describing.

This would be like barbarians versus Romans. No discipline or central leadership from the rioters. So it would look very different given mounted units and organization on the rioters side.

Oh for sure... I was more interested in making the point that this would be played much differently given organization and a rudimentary understanding of tactics. Once the cops had lined up in rows they should have used the molotovs to weaken their rear reserves and prevent reinforcement. Then focused on creating a flank to force the front lines to retreat. Instead they saved their ranged weapons when they were at their least likely to limit police mobility.

There are a thousand other options obviously but this is a great example of the power of organization.

Man everyone else is the world is so much better at rioting than us. When is the last time you've seen a Western political protest that actually defended themselves?

It seems to me that there is a real need for basic military training just to be able to survive expressing your rights. People go protest and do nothing when cops literally beat the shit out of people. Like that cop who was pepper spraying unarmed and non-violent students - he should have gotten his ass kicked and it should have been viewed as a citizens arrest.

And kettling... Everytime I see that I rage out hard. There needs to be a direct action organization whose sole job is disordering the police during protests. Provide medical aid and organize coordinated actions meant to keep protestors safe from the police.
