The region won't be transformed. The jihadists are winning and already the West is starting to switch to its own oil resources. What you have witnessed isn't a conspiracy that was planned by the US-Saudi-Israeli alliance... It is the panic and ineptitude of traditional authority losing battle after battle for control.

Israel has the nuke. It has a powerful traditional military. Both of which are entirely useless against the enemies they face and will not prevent their country from turning into an unlivable shithole run by the military and forever less democratic and free.

We don't need the ME, so losing it doesn't signal our defeat - it signals the defeat of certain realities. One is that we will no longer have leverage... So when the various Arab states get serious about forcing Israel to become a military dictatorship, we will have no way of stopping them. Another is that we will inevitably lose access to the region, which means no reinforcements. Finally it will be the Russians and the Chinese who act as patron states, and they could give a damn less about the politics or beliefs their clients have about Israel.

I agree re: the WoT. It isn't a big deal anymore and is best fought with good intelligence and security measures.

My point is that Israel is putting itself into a terrible situation and we won't be able to bail their asses out. The inevitable destiny of Israel is to be destroyed - not in the sense of physical destruction but in the sense that its entire purpose will be defeated. It will not last as a democracy. It will not be a safe place for Jews to live. That is what is important here.

I can see Israel having a comparable relationship with the Russian or the Chinese. Probably get along with the Russians better than they do with us.

They aren't going anywhere.

And since they are already in league with the Saudis your prediction seems more like wishful thinking than anything else.

A lot Israelis are Russians, and a lot of Russians are Jews.

Also Israel has a better relationship with Russia than you probably realize, with USA out of the way time for friendship as interests begin to align.

Same goes for China.

Your idea that western support for Israel is entirely predicated on religious extremism in the US congress is silly. lol At best a small number of reactionaries don't hate Jews quite as much as they normally would and that is the extent of the effect of religious extremism on Christian/Jewish relations.

Catholics are the predominate christian group in the US and they are notorious for their historical view of jews as christ killers. The view that jews are the fulfillment of some kind of prophecy or something is held only by a very small minority of christian groups and is not very influential at all.
