Since Im semi-retired now and have got lots of free time I finally caved and decided to give The Wire a shot. Holy crap, by the middle of the first season I was hooked and I finished the whole series in 10 days. Practically the best TV show Ive ever seen. Soo realistic that I was visualizing several members from PCF as some of the characters LOL. Kicking myself for having missed this show the first time, I think its because it was overshadowed by the Sopranos (and this show blows it out of the water) and I wasnt too interested at watching a black tv show since Im not into the gangsta culture and all that but shiiiiiieeeet was I wrong on it and I will admit that. The one thing I didnt like was the theme music (Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire's is clearly superior) but it got good at the final season.

I was shocked to see Chalky White but it seems he was a badass in this one too.

Special thanks to Philly who was bugging me about it, you were right, dude. Its damn damn good!

I'm not sure it qualifies as a "black" TV show since white folk love it and it has a shit ton of white people in it but i'm glad you like it anyway it's a really good show.

What's your favorite season? I lean toward the docks.

Loved season three and season four. Incredible show.

I'm working my way through Mad Men (which is amazing), I cannot get started on another show that's going to consume hours of my day. But The Wire is on my list for my long trip abroad this year. Seriously the amount of long form drama shows that have proliferated over the last 5-10 years is incredible. Nothing this close to brilliant drama and acting in recent memory.

Robot, you seriously can't start The Wire soon enough. It's just better than everything else, end of story. It's not as flashy as a lot of other premium serialized television, but it's so well written, acted, and directed. You really need to watch the whole thing at least twice, probably 3 times to catch all the stuff you'll miss in your first watch-through. I do an annual rewatch every spring.

Yeah the Wire is probably my favorite show I have ever watched. I came late to the party and finished it at the end of last year. Season 2 was my favorite but I liked all of them. Enjoyed how instead of being stale and rehashing the same formula they brought in more of the different facets of society, the schools, the developers ect. I didn't like Marlows acting but that is a minor blip in the best show ever.
