So Snowden is like "GUYZ people aren't respecting our freedoms. We gotta stop this!"

So he flees to.....China. And then......Russia.

Really?

i'm thinking maybe he had a beef with a boss or something and this is his revenge. He clearly isn't principled or he wouldn't be hiding out in even more surveillance-heavy countries.

It is about who would take him. Obviously Western allied nations would be very nervous about the whole thing.

Well in terms of these comparisons to MLK and Rosa Parks, I highly doubt they would have run to the then-ruling government of South Africa who supported apartheid to avoid prosecution for fighting racial discrimination in America.

But Snowden, to avoid consequences for taking on the surveillance state in the US does the functional equivalent by taking refuge in Russia and China.

Also, you may want to consider that your own country has killed hundreds of thousands of civilians in the past two decades before you start getting all judgey.
