Sorry Emerald, but conflating gender roles and racism exemplifies the toxic elements behind your suggestions. Racism and racial division occurred as a consequence of imperialism - gender roles developed in unison. Men didn't beat women over the head with clubs. It arose out of economic necessity.

I was raised by all women in a family that was mostly apathetic about politics, but my aunt nurtured an immediate interest in feminism at a young age. I was an 11 year old boy by the time I started to read Greer and Hurston. I could elaborate on the meaning of patriarchy before I could even properly spell 'beautiful' - then I went through two traumatic experiences in life where I saw the hypocrisy of a movement claiming to be for gender equality - I was raped by a girl my age and later on was falsely accused of rape by another female. No sympathy. In fact, in the latter case, I was told by every single feminist I associated with that I 'probably did rape her' and that 'only 1 in a billion' women lie about being raped.

This got me questioning the very idea of patriarchy. Yes, I'm still bitter about the experience, but I'm thankful for this venom. It got me to question why women can enjoy better quality education, health care, and status but still complain about being "exploited." The assumptions feminists make about a 'glorified male life' are simply false. Economic power also meant men were viewed as disposable. Except for in cultures that have declined due to total warfare, men have never controlled women in the same way whites have controlled blacks.

Although on the subject of "pride," the two movements are equally stupid in trying to isolate people from each other. Most of your posts reflect an attitude that women have more to complain about than men. Even if that were true on the large-scale - and I think it's the opposite - you completely ignore the idea a large portion of men undergo more distress than you.

That's ultimately another flaw with feminism. According to your ideas about patriarchy, a heterosexual woman is more oppressed than a homosexual male. Lol, yeah right.
