In my experience, it really depends on the industry. Work as a professional? You can expect good policies that are enforced fairly rigorously. Work in a minimum wage job, food service job or other low-level service job? You can expect systematic racism, sexism, bullying and all sorts of shit that will never be dealt with, because 1) the employees don't have the money, time or knowledge to do anything about it and 2) the employer is by far the dominant party in the employee-employer relationship, and most employees can't afford to make a stink about such things.
I for one have seen incredible amounts of discrimination and harassment in my small experience in those industries, while hearing about even more from friends and family. It is a huge problem experienced almost exclusively by the lower class.
