I hunt with responsible people. You don't shoot unless you are sure to hit it where you want to hit it - period. If you are some guy who decides that winging it is enough, you should probably not have a gun.
There is also the enforcement question. Obviously making hunting illegal is just going to result in an enforcement nightmare. Regulating how animals are slaughtered in licensed facilties is much, much easier.
If you think that religious food is more valuable and deserves protection, just say so. Trying to make this about hunting is just a really poor way of saying that you value religious liberty over animal rights.
