with the funds and the political will (something this country sucks at lately) you can solve that issue the way the netherlands has. locks, sea wealls, dikes, etc. like 70% of the netherlands is basically new orleans and they've managed to keep themselves dry for a while.

Yeah there's a lot of discussion about that in NYC. We'll come up with solutions and I expect the rest of the country will bitch when the federal government chips in to help. Funny thing though: unlike most big cities, New York gives more both to the state government and the federal government than they get back from either. Most other big cities are a parasite of the feds and their home state.
