there's a company here that sells the local lettuce (grown in greenhouses) with roots still in dirt so it stays fresher longer. lettuce doesn't have to be grown in california
just because california has grown it because it can grow it doesn't mean we should continue to do it that way in the face of changing climate conditions. the aberration that was the last few centuries is coming to a close and california will be back to its dry climate that dries up lakes throughout the state. there will still be some agriculture, sure, but the rest of the country can grow other things. sure maybe it'll be more expensive. whatever, that's fine. but i don't want to pay tax dollars to ship my water over to california, or tax dollars to ship fossil water there, just to save a few cents on a crate of strawberries in feburary
