Well...thats getting a little nuts. Back in Hitler's day there was still something to be gained from that sort of thing. Nowadays economics makes Hitler's strategies moot. 21st century Hitler wouldn't do what 20th century Hitler did.
That said...as much as its being disparaged on these boards, Ukraine is an enormously valuable country. One of the most agriculturally important places on Earth, and strategically positioned. Its not like its some island in the indian ocean that doesn't matter. Bringing Ukraine into the fold presents large future advantages for Russia, and large disadvantages to the west.

If you think invading other countries is a thing of the past your brain really has calcified. There is still something to be gained if you take by force and no one does anything about it. That will never change.
Putin is a thug, he is a guy who literally steals jewelry from his party guests. If he takes Crimea and the west does nothing that will not be the end of it.
