In any case, the idea that the West is going to have no authority sometime soon, let alone within our lifetimes, is laughable. Are you kidding me? Between Europe and the US, there has never been a group of people with more authority. The entire world literally works for our benefit. Our economies drive everything. Our combined military might is beyond astounding. I think we can afford to relax a little bit, maybe not start shooting wars because we're bored at the top and need to spice things up.

until we achieve one world government, i want to be the one that f**k with, not the one f**k with. and there's a difference between asserting yourself and becoming a competitor. we've never had the means to push around brazil or india with softpower to any real extent, so they've always been able to assert themselves post-colonialism. i don't want to compete with them is all. and we won't have to, as long we're able to assert ourselves as the continuing dominant power block. erode our power and someone less benevolent than the west will fill that power vacuum. or multiple nations will, and thus the struggle begins anew.

and yes, checking russian expansionism is part of that. but you seem to think history is linear and there is no way to convince you that what happened in the past will happen again if we aren't proactive. you're sisyphus, and you'll always be sisyphus. not that i blame you, it's a prevalent failing among people.

Your first sentence is insane, so I think we need to have a talk about this.

First off, the idea that you will be f**k with is really strange, and puts off this edgy-paranoid vibe that kills my buzz. Just what exactly are you imagining is going to happen? Some sort of global conspiracy to keep the US down? Russian forces rampaging through Berlin, Chinese nuclear sub's launching on New York, Indian troops making off with the Mona Lisa after they conquer Paris?

I'm not betting on history not repeating itself, I'm betting on none of those countries being completely insane and suicidal. Russia could take back all it's SSRs, by force, tomorrow, and it would still be isolated, economically backwards and utterly outgunned.

Secondly, your power vacuum argument is nothing more than projection. The US isn't going to have less power if it gets what it wants by diplomacy over military action. Your thinking is so twisted that you can't even admit that military force was not necessary here, even as Putin backs off and Ukraine is almost certain to become part of the EU.

If you are that concerned about US power, fix your economy and start setting the agenda, instead of rage-dosing over every backyard skirmish.
