It sounds like a great idea until you look into it. What can you do with Detroit real estate? Prolly won't appreciate that much, you can't rent it out, you are liable for thousands of dollars in taxes per year. Detroit won't come back unless U.S. manufacturing comes back, and U.S. manufacturing isn't coming back as long as the gov is signing free trade deals and there is 4 billion people out there dying to work for 5$ an hour.

Spider is correct. Something needs to be done one way or another. It is a blight on your country, like Canada's native reserves.

Returning it to agriculture makes a tremendous amount of sense. If I were a millionaire I'd be buying up as much as possible, tearing most of it down and thus helping create scarcity, and building urban farms (which have huge potential on their own). As the value of your other properties goes up, you'll be making big money. Houses that you buy for $100 and sell for even $15,000, which is the average cost of a Detroit home, would net you astounding profit. And the best thing is that you could probably get away with paying next to no taxes, assuming you are buying enough and the city isn't completely retarded.
