Not my theory, but hijacked by the pilots, passengers killed, going to load the plane with a nuke and blow it up over some major US city.

My guess is that they are on a tropical island with polar bears, well on their way to an ambiguous and unsatisfying ending.

Why the hell were there polar bears? I can't remember. Gonna have to google it.
My theory?
- Hijackers took over the plane, intending to crash it into something, and lost control because of passenger interference
The other 2 theories of mine are damaged by the following facts:
- that hijackers took over the plane and deliberately crashed it - damaged by the fact that there was no transmission of demands or radio chatter from the cockpit.
- that the pilots committed suicide by crashing the plane - damaged by the problem that, if they just wanted to crash it, why did they fly for 4 hours and hundreds of miles off course before doing it?
