It's a pretty ugly business, really rather no one I know take part in it. I imagine most who participate in it are broken people to some extent at least.

I would put the general character and psychological state of a sex worker up against your average mid level marketing or media executive an-y-day-of-the-year.

The only reason it is viewed differently is because it's about sex. What is so different about sex that it can't be provided as a service without the provider being damaged?

I don't think sex for pay is that damaging in itself, I think it is something unfairly demonized by society that makes it damaging to its workers. It also doesn't help that its reputation attracts really skeezy characters on the production side and the desperate and emotionally broken when it comes to female actresses.

i find cops to be much more psychologically broken and maladjusted to society than porn stars.
