There are many women who fantasize about it, and quite a few who do it willingly for no compensation.

So like I said, it really depends on the who and the why.

I mean giving head could be construed as degrading, depending on who you are.

Are we going to talk about the seedy underbelly of this thing though? That's all about dehumanization? Pain? Humiliation? Literally vomiting human feces back and forth into and from other people's mouths? Literally drinking enema discharge directly from the source?

At what point does this become a problem? I don't think many here take any issue with the usual spectrum of porn. But what about as it continues to escalate into something that destroys people's self worth and humanity?

In BR's link it talks about the casual escalation in a short period of time from some fresh face in the business who refuses to even do anal suddenly going to someone who'd beg for a chance to have 2 or even 3 dicks jammed up there simultaneously. With only a very few exceptions there doesn't seem to be any lasting expectation of standards. You keep being more willing to do more during that brief window when your physically perfect enough, or the phone stop ringing.

Yeah, I do think there's a spectrum. I wouldn't say porn is never degrading, in fact a good chunk of it is. I think the Amis article shows this as in large part an effect of the exploitation of the market. But standards in general are also relative, and there are performers like Sunny Leone who've even managed to turn porn into a semi-respectable career. If we could remove some of the stigma and make it part of a normal sexual practice perhaps the more extreme, violent, and disturbing forms that seem to define porn in the public imagination would decline. Though of course that stuff would still exist.
