It was a Chinese Uighur separatist terrorist hijacking for a 9/11 on a Chinese skyscraper. The pilot bluffed his directive and ran the plane out of fuel into the ocean. The reason the plane zoomed up to over 45,000 feet is because that is one of the maneuvers that pilots are trained to do when the cockpit door is under attack. The thought being that the attitude of the plane going vertical could keep the attacker(s) off their balance and prevent incursion into the cockpit. One more reason to dismiss all stewardess flight crews and in their place put trained killers in the planes to serve drinks and whatnot.

I don't know what happened on that plane, but I think it crashed into the ocean somewhere & chances are will never be found. Too big an area to search with not much clue to pinpoint a localised search area.
