You're being pragmatic. The issue is, The World Sucks. Russia controls the gas. So Russia can pretty much waltz over and carve a chunk off of another country as it pleases. Because it controls the gas, any sanctions tossed its way as reprisal are going to be trivial, and ultimately meaningless. So far its just targeting specific people who are going to just be cut a check to cover the difference.

People here are arguing on the basis of right and wrong. And what Russia has done is undeniably wrong. But right and wrong don't matter. Money does.

Of course arguments between the positions of realists and the positions of idealists are going to blow by each other.

Well, consider for a second the fact that the leader of our executive branch can serve a max of two four year terms whereas Putin can serve....however long he wants?
