the difference between colleges and universities at least in the states is that universities offer graduate studies as well as undergraduate and colleges do not.
there are also subbaccalaureate awards that aren't even degrees that you can get for doing like a one year course on management or something that isn't technically college level work. associate's degree is a 2 year program that is of college level work, while bachelor's is a 4 year program. then of course you have masters and doctorate beyond that
and because ex, you said you were disappointed, and no, you were not only discussing your experiences. your first sentence was, "To be fair, there are very few people going to school that are going for the sake of an education." which means everything you are explaining has to do with how nobody goes to school for the sake of an education, blah blah blah you don't even get to talk to professors and what about the "organizing politically"?!?!! (which to me was a completely bizarre statement). so it wasn't just about you. and i was saying perhaps you got lost in a bigger university, is all. some people do better in smaller ones, others, bigger ones.
