I had a similar reaction as most of you when I first heard about it. "Why does a St. Patrick's Day parade need a gay float?" It turns out the parade includes floats from like every group on the planet. For them to open up the parade to every BUT the gays is the issue.

I wasn't aware of the entire situation but they should be allowed to march if other groups are under their sub-group banner.

It doesn't really feel to me that there is an overstep here. Is it obnoxious that there would be a rainbow flag in amongst the green? Of course. But To ban gay flags to me seems to say "god guys can't we have one event without homosexuality being evident" which is a somewhat natural sentiment given the oversaturation of the times... but one that to me really shouldn't manifest it's self ever in actions. We live in gay times. It will fade in the coming decades, and we'll have parades without homo flags. We just don't get that luxury currently.
