I believe that the mainstream GOP is coming to its collective senses. I believe that they are realizing that the TP is the conservative version of the "Green Party" - a far-flung wing of the party. Good for some ideas, a lot of laughs, and a few crazy candidates. They will throw them a bone every now and then. But, the PEOPLE (ie: voters) are beginning to realize that it's more important to win elections and compromise, than it is to be un-compromising and lose.

Until the moderates in the GOP take a firm, unified stance against the 24/7 hate filled talking heads and the TP people like Cruz and Bachmann they will continue to have problems on the national stage and elections..
They can't have the Cruz's and Backmann's and Limbaugh's daily insulting and marginalizing whole demographics in the name of the GOP and then expect to bring these same demographics into the GOP camp..
Wedges and hate works with older white guys because the GOP appeals to their fears of guns and God and gays. But that doesn't work with women and most minorities.

Well the fact that "camp nigrahead lets abolish the department of energy" Rick Perry is considered one of the more likely candidates for GOP 2016 is a good indicator on just how out of touch the GOP is.
