I'd love the opportunity to tip the chef directly. I bet my plate would be over-flowing with goodness and heft. I tip the bartender well because I want a stout pour of my favorite spirit. The server gets a good tip if they service my guests and me properly.
Tipping is self serving. Those that don't tip well pay for the disservice in some way then or upon future visits to whatever establishment.
