I don't buy the 'thank goodness the government are scared of us because I have a Glock' argument.

Think about it practically. If your government wanted to .. ahem .. get you (for some bizarre reason) - believe me, an AR-15 or AK47 isn't going to solve your problems.

What they could do:

1) Bomb you with a howitzer from 13 miles away
2) Bomb you from a jet
3) Drive a tank up to you, and shoot you with it
4) Poison your water supply at source, 8 miles away
5) Bomb you frmo a helicopter
6) Pay someone you trust $15m to end you, with a guarantee of no prosecution
7) Drive an APC over you
8) get 25 bears from the local zoo, and release them into your house
9) Wait until you're in the cinema, and shoot you in the back of the head
10) Cut off your power, erect a big fence around your property, nad wait until you get bored or hungry so give up.
11) A gazillion other things.


What you could do

1) er ..
2) invent a magic shield that protects you from all of the above, magically find out who exactly is out to get you, then magically be able to get to them first and shoot them, with no-one knowing who did it so you face no consequence.

Good people are people who had background checks, passed a medical examination, psychological tests and are able to beat arms competently. Also 'good' people should not have a criminal records and ties with gangs.
