Also, South Korea industrialized thanks to massive amounts of state involvement. It's the reason why we now get our electronics from there, instead of it remaining a backwater appendage to China (well that and massive amounts of US aid).

Anyway, you completely missed the point. Russia never had a serious democracy, as the 93 constitutional crisis demonstrated. Of course, you are going to blame this on the west, despite the fact that russia has NEVER had a truly democratic leader in the long history of the nation. Not once. Ever. But blame the west for supporting Yelstin.
