Phillies have a new broadcast team this year. Jamie Moyer and Matt Stairs.
Matt Stairs is a veteran slugger who was the hero of an NLCS game against the LA Dodgers in our World Series winning 2008 season when he came up big with a home run on a pinch hit.
Jamie Moyer set records with the Phillies when he became the oldest pitcher to throw a shutout and then went to the Rockies where he pitched a few good games at age 50 and then miraculously became the oldest player to ever record an RBI (I know you remember that non)
THESE GUYS ARE TERRIBLE IN THE BOOTH! Moyer stumbles all over his every word and Matt Stairs has an annoying Canadian accent and even more annoying habit to try and predict the outcome of every single at bat. Hopefully Moyer just had first-day-on-the-job jitters and will get better. Unless Stairs undergoes speech therapy to lose his stupid accent I'm never going to enjoy listening to him call a game.

I just found video of Moyer setting the RBI record with the Rockies. Excellent video. When they cut back to Moyer standing on first he has a complete look of disbelief on his face that he was able to outrun that play.

That season was the first year I had MLBtv. Watched every Rockies game that Moyer pitched. Hell of a drive that guy had to be still pitching and winning games at 50. It's not like he was freakishly talented or anything. Just never gave up.

Oh man. I feel euphoric right now. I watched a Phillies game yesterday, and now I'm watching another one, and there will be another tomorrow and then another on Friday and Saturday and Sunday and so on for 6 months. GOD BLESS AMERICA
