So old unions would actually look out for the illegals, they'd actually fight for them as well, so long as they didn't scab, now it's all about fighting off globalization... Which is the exact opposite of where they need to go.

The labour movement needs to embrace transnationalism. A strong organized labour system anywhere helps organized labour everywhere.

You seem to have forgotten about the service industry. That is the next area that needs to be organized.

Further, American organizing grew out of factories. Not artisan shops. There never was any skill to most of the jobs, not unless you were a tradesmen, and in that case, you didn't even really need to organize as there has always been a shortage and always will be.

Yep. As I said the ones making big moves here are building services, teachers, healthcare workers, and hotel trades. All jobs you can't outsource because they require in-person service.

American Unions are useless. I hope they get stamped out. You don't need to unionize to protect the rights of workers. Public sector unions should be outright illegal. You don't get to double dip, vote, and then organize to leverage even more out of the rest of the taxpaying public. The only upside to unionization is it makes the transition to automation take place quicker. Maybe ill be able to get a burger made properly once machines take over those jobs.
