People have been claiming that automation will replace almost all wage earning workers within a generation since the 1800's. That doesn't mean it definitely isn't true this time, but it means I don't buy into anyone who predicts it so concretely with such certainty.

Maybe non employment oriented collective associations could serve the same purpose, though. Like how in some countries football syndicates function in a political capacity at times.
