Calling the Han a single ethnic group is just really weird. Genetically speaking, only about half share the same markers. The languages are different. The religions are varied. The cultural traditions are different. The division between North and South is obvious.
Of course they live in mainland China so I guess that counts for something. To me, though, its like saying Indian is an ethnicity. I guess.
