yeah, so are skulls and knees though. rugby players just end up going back out there and playing with concussions. it's a big problem for them too, but of course football players impacts are much more violent than rugby and the injuries far worse, i agree
i dunno, it's hard to come up with a good policy here. in ice hockey you're going fast on ice and there's a puck flying around everywhere. you need to protect against those things. then you add in checking and we need more padding to protect more. i think that if hockey was played the same 30 years ago as it is now, you'd be praising how well the pads and rule changes have protected players as evidenced by the reduction in injuries. but it couldn't be played that way before. if you knock out half the team you can't play no more
like i said, hard to come up with good policy. i do think instigator rule ought go though
