we have a messed up view that prison is the approproate punishment for most things. in fact, it's a horrible punishment, that itself creates its own high recidivism rate
i would perfer using the lash on most criminals. the outcry of it being barbaric --- really? it's more barbaric than destroying the person's life and future over a petty crime by throwing them in jail for a year? they get out, no home, no job, no wife, no kids, no car, no dog, no life. because they dealt a little pot to make ends meet. and they're f**k, forever. whip him 20 times instead and he won't do it again, but his life isn't in shambles. you tell me which is more barbaric
