But again Prof the "how" really doesn't matter in this case when the NBA has an image to protect.
I agree the case is shoddy all-around but they certainly can argue that he's only going to hurt their image/business, especially if players start striking in protest.

How would you even regulate the former?
But yeah I'm sure they can say something along the lines of "Our policy is that diversity and equality are what we demand of all players, coaches and employees/owners of the NBA. Any actions/words that violate that policy are terms for immediate dismissal."

He signed the agreement that said the NBA can oust him with 3/4's vote.. That's all they need. The other stuff is just talk(no pun intended).. His 'expectations' about that conversation mean nothing..
It went public, it hurt the NBA's business, they can and will oust him..
