too little too late. i bought a roku because of the bullshit XBL gold subscription and i'm not going back. anyone that planned on streaming netflix on their tv but didn't want to buy live time has already done the same. this will affect almost no one.

I wouldn't really call it a 180 perhaps because they bundled it originally to make Gold more attractive. For years the top streaming devices were consoles for Netflix, Hulu, etc. Now that they have geared the Xbox 360 and the Xbox one into a living room entertainment device they can't justify the price when there are smaller competitors that don't cost as much. Now it seems they are simply adjusting it to be more competitive while allowing you to pay for premium gaming. Times change, and Microsoft's biggest problem to date was never embracing change, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer are basically to blame for that. Lets hope they continue making better decisions from here on out.

the reason why the Wii won the console wars of that generation (no, they did, i know the games were not as great and whatever sony fanboi shit you're gonna say it doesn't matter because nintendo still won http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mi ... e_consoles ) WAS because of a gimmicky controller. why wouldn't they do it again? the reason xbox 360s sales kicked up at the end of it's life WAS because of kinect. why wouldn't they do it again?

I don't blame them for wanting to continue the Kinect, but it was making it mandatory that was retarded. I really doubt the Kinect is going to be relevant much longer seeing as they are dropping it completely from new packages. There have been only a couple of really good games for it and unless something really big comes out for it soon, I doubt we'll see much more for it. Could be they are working on a NextGen type thing, I dunno but I just don't see how its going to be a thing. The couple of dance games were really the only things it had going for it. Everything else was just gimmicky (and we'll not mention the atrocity that was Star Wars).

Game streaming may be a thing before long but I don't know that the console has enough power to do that very well coupled with playing the game.

I just don't see it sticking around unless they do something really big that can't be done with a BT microphone.
