Yes it was well done.. But probably because both wars have been done to death, there wasn't anything on it I hadn't heard or read a million times before..

I don't think I'll watch the rest of it.

Personally, I'd like to see something done on WW2 from the Russian perspective. Yes, Britain fought a hard battle in the Battle of Britain and fought the Nazis longer than any other Ally. Yes, America helped turn the tide with technology and some influx of troops. But, Russia probably had a far greater impact on the war than we ever give them credit for. You never hear much about the Eastern front except that the Russian winter stalled the Nazis, and then (somehow) the Russians pushed into Germany and took Berlin.

I won't go so far as to say that Russia had a greater impact than Britain/America. But, I also wouldn't be surprised.

The allies weren't really getting anywhere until the Germans attacked Russia and they joined the Allied cause in 1941. They stopped the Wehrmacht less than 50 km outside of Moscow and then fought them every step of the way back to Berlin at the cost of 8.7 Russian servicemen. The German invasion of Russian also killed roughly 26.6 million Russian civilians.

The tank battles in the Eastern theater where the largest in history and the decisive Russian victory at Stalingrad in '42-3 was arguably the most important in military history. This battle was the beginning of the end for the Nazi war machine.

how come no-one ever points out the Russians killed 5,000,000 German soldiers? It's always "they (the Russians) lost 8.7 million soldiers."

IMHO the biggest mistae he made was going into Great Britain.

With american sentiment, even if hitler took france, poland, etc we still probably would not have went in there, had he not threatened our great alley in GB. Even if he loses to russia, he still has France, Poland, etc if not for us.


Though once we found out about the concentration camps it might have been a wrap for him anyway.

Hitler wanted to make peace with Britain.. Churchill would have none of it.

Also there really wasn't much love for England in the US in 1939-1940.. FDR wanted to help england.. But the American public really didn't give a damn if England fell. Even when England was all alone something like 90% of all Americans wanted to stay out of the war.. And the Irish and German Americans really hated England, and did all they could to keep the US out of the war..

There was little love for England.
