This happened at my school too. In middle school. Kid got a Mohawk died blue. Principal said it was too distracting for classmates to learn. They said it would be ok if he died it a less distracting color and didn't spike it up. I think he went along with it but don't really remember.

Our school board was run by helicopter parents sand we really didn't have any drugs or violence problems so they found petty shit to keep themselves busy. I called the vice principal a fascist in 6th grade because he said shorts aren't allowed between November and April. Well, I was already expressing righteous indignation at a college freshman level when I was 12 so that's pretty impressive.

Yeah, agreed. Calling a principal a fascist at that age is very impressive. I wasn't nearly as sophisticated...

Says a lot about the administrators...that they are so sad they have to try to have power struggles with teenagers even after the teenagers have finally jumped through the last hoops.

They shouldn't apologize. They should fight this, and make damn sure the next class does the same damn thing.
