So I went to the Phillies @ Mets game last night. Managed some beautiful seats in the 100 level, about a dozen rows up on the first base line.
Started out with very ugly starting pitching from both sides. But likewise both teams were stranding an obscene number of base runners. Very evenly matched game of incompetence and neither starter made it past the 5th inning when the score stood 2-1 phillies. Then in a complete shock, both Phillies and Mets bullpens held string in the 6th 7th 8th and 9th. Innings. Between both bullpens, only one run allowed when David Wright doubled to bring one in and tie it up in the 8th. It was already 11 when the 9th ended (game had gone so slowly because the starters let so many runners on). After a scoreless 10th in in I wondered if this game was gonna go past midnight, but in the top of the 11th, utley got on, they walked Ryan Howarh intentionally, and Maron Byrd hit a double to make the score 3-2 Phillies. A couple of pop ups and fly balls in the bottom of the inning ended the game and the Phillies won in 11 innings at about 11:55 PM. Game lasted more than 4.5 hour and I definitely got my money's worth.
God Bless Major League Baseball.
