1. The e-mails are backed up for 6 months. This is actually very normal. Many large companies do this or do it for less time but run on a very similar system (though small ones keep them longer, of course).

2. The reason the IRS doesn't is because it's underfunded and cannot afford it. You can thank the GOP in congress for not increasing its budget enough (in fact, they're slashing its budget!).

3. Most of the e-mails "lost" were found from the correspondents with Lerner. 24k of them, in fact. Not all.


This is another faux-scandal. if there is a real scandal, it's that the IRS isn't funded enough so they can keep more than 6 months (they've actually increased it now, shifting funding from elsewhere) worth and employees can have more than 500MB storage inboxes.

They also tried to save her HD when it crashed but the tech team failed. Not now, back in 2011.

It's pretty hilarious that the GOP thinks an IRS employee sending e-mails all over would crash her own computer (lol) to cover-up something that wasn't discovered and then proven farcical 2 years later.

Sorry, it is a real scandal. GOP stupidity in trying to make this an Obama issue aside, the IRS has been caught lying to Congress on more than one occasion during the course of the investigation. There was a time when the IRS claimed these activities weren't even happening, how many of them claim that now? None as they have pretty much confessed it happened except no one is going to be the asshole that admits they had a part in it. They'd much rather play damage control and pin it on one office in Cinci,which was also proven to be untrue. At the end of the day, it shouldn't matter what groups were being targeted. The fact that any groups were targeted for any reasons other than legitimate code violations should upset anyone.

Sorry, this is just another faux f***ing scandal that was already figured out long ago.

But that's what the GOP does these days instead of govern: pimp fake scandals so they can have investigations, hearings and be outraged. How many more times are we going to "investigate" Benghazi? Or this? Now it's the POW exchange. How about another go at Fast n' Furious? Let's repeal Obamacare again.

This is red meat thrown out to the rabid FNOTW crowd to distract them from the reality that the GOP doesn't stand for anything except this. Even when things are disproven, the GOP still flogs them for years because their "base" has Henrietta Syndrome. They don't care if it's real or not: they just want to rage and convince themselves that they're all victims of the communist Muslim plot (like with this).

Meanwhile, while you waste all of our time with this bullshit, nobody's "investigating" or doing anything about NSA, for instance, which is 1000x more a threat to your freedom than some bumbling IRS chief. Nobody's fixing the economy, creating jobs, dealing with climate change, fixing our infrastructure, our education system, tackling the income disparity nightmare...

Dude and Indy straight away to call it bullshit. What's bullshit is any reasoning or logic being displayed by the IRS. They have already backtracked on so many things that it is absurd. Yeah, the GOP was stupid to try and immediately tie this to Obama since no evidence has been presented to show any connection to the admin. Thanks to their stupidity people like you and Dude now think this isn't even an issue, which is another case of bullshit. I also see that you're back to your schtick of one issue at a time please. The NSA spying on Americans warrants attention, as does this IRS crap. It matters not if the GOP unfortunately have to be the ones to push the issue.
