I think its important to note that there's a f**k grand canyon sized gulf between the pointless psychobabble of freud, and modern psychology. Problem is the former is what people are largely aware of and the latter being some 20-30 years old is not studied well outside of universities. It also doesn't help that a lot of 'practicing' psychologists, are quacks.
The findings of social psychology for example, as to how people behave in groups, its certainty not only relative to western culture. Nor is the very basic affective (not a spelling mistake) psychology which com is referencing.
