There is only one way to approach this question, and it is evidence. That's it.
A religious person accepts that certain pieces of evidence are true.
An atheist argues that none of the evidence is true.
An agnostic argues that all of the evidence presented is thus far untrue, but that it could in fact be true.
Obviously agnosticism is the inferior philosophy, since it first rejects all evidence, then argues a position based upon a lack of it.
