Yeah hamels is talented but he's not a portrait of great pitching temperament to me.

And this is why they play the games-----

The team with the best record in baseball and the best team ERA in AL, the Oakland A's, and with one of the best pitchers in the AL this year, Scott Kazmir, show up at the Grand Canyon in NYC to play the Mets, an awful offensive team with a .214 team BA at home.. Kazmir hasn't given up more than 4 runs in any game so far this year.. And has only given up 6 HR's in almost 100 innings pitched..

So of course he gets knocked out in the 3rd inning after giving up 7 runs and 3HR's... A's lose 10-1..

Baseball is a crazy game.

This is why I can enjoy baseball even in a down season. Bad teams beat up on good teams all the time. Over the course of 162 games the good teams prevail, but on an individual night the mets wrecking the a's isn't even that crazy an occurrence. So I can view every game as it's own thing. Unlike football where upsets are upsets but the seasons always looking over each game.

If the Mets went to Oakland and beat the A's 10-1 I wouldn't be nearly as surprised as I was last night. The Mets are AWFUL offensively at home.. This year they are hitting .214 at home...

The last couple of years they've been a much better road team than home team..

What scares me is they hit 4 HR's last night, which means they'll try to hit homers every time up.. And that means instead of trying to hit singles and doubles they'll go back to huge upper cut swings which lead to nothing but strikeouts and popups.

Might as well. You guys suck just as much as we do. This is the time of year to embrace that and start thinking about future seasons. Might as well swing for the fences just for fun now.
