Local brew - Abita beer, makes Turbodog and Abita Amber, among many seasonal brews.

Best local alcohol is Old New Orleans rum. Made right here in the heart of NOLA. I can see the distillery from my window. Their Crystal rum is the best white rum I've ever tasted (tasted around 25 different ones).

Abita is pretty lousy, but considering beer in general is just awful in the South, it's impressive among its peers.

this is one of my favorite beers in fall. it's made with beet juice so it's very sweet and has a funky red color.

one of the oddest and most complex flavored beers i've tasted. has an average ale taste layered with hints of nuts, flowers, and fruit. very odd but very delicious.

Brewery Ommegang makes some fantastic beer, world class. Southern Tier is probably my second favorite New York brewery.

i get the southern tier IPA a lot when i can find it. haven't had any of their other stuff though.
