no, they are radically different when it comes to religion and politics

they believe only a legitimate authority can undertake jihad so their first priority is the purification of Islamic society, according to their intractable version of sharia law. then when Islam is united under legitimate authority then non-islamic enemies can be dealt with.

They do not support the Gazan cause because they view the leadership as illegitimate apostates and the cause counter to their interests. This give the people of Gaza the same status shi'ites in their view.

I'm glad you've started to educate yourself about ISIS. Your point is interesting, although I doubt that it can accurately described as "radically different." To me that is like describing Catholics as "radically different" than Baptists, on the basis that Catholics uphold the authority of the Catholic Church. But then again I've become markedly uncaring about the theoretical differences between fairy tales. Politically, ISIS makes no claim to support democracy, whereas Hamas makes that claim but doesn't actually support it. So, again, pretty slight.

Who was it that called for arming the rebels in Syria, by the way? I know Comrade did, but I'm pretty sure almost everyone here opposed it.

also hamas is a militia, ISIS has an army in it's own right, with advanced leadership, command and control, and tactics.
