Cop was in the wrong from this first, as there shouldn't have been a choke hold to begin with. I think they were saying that was even policy? I'd like to see a manslaughter charge, personally.
Ya, the guy was illegally selling something, and the cops had every right and duty to take him in, and he really shouldn't have been standing there screaming his idiot head off instead of cooperating. Still...choke hold is a no-no.

Well how much did the choke hold help in this situation? Not at all? Okay. So how would working "by the book" have reduced their effectiveness at all?

Both sides need to take a step back. The cops need to remember their job is to "protect and serve". Minorities need to remember a cop doing their job is not just a " white thang". Non compliance is almost always the reason for escalations, and no doubt played a part in this event ( choke hold and Ferguson).. But is jay walking a reason for a shake down? Imo, no.
The hardest part of doing nothing is knowing when your done.
