Fallout 3 was great. Loved all the dialogue, and there were so many great moments where you realize how much thought and effort the designers actually put into all the little side stories (ie. Moira's wasteland survival guide, the quest with Gwinnett). I'd actually played Fallout 1 and 2 as a kid and was skeptical of Bethesda's more realist take, but I think they managed to reinvent the tone and humor of the series including all the crazy references to how people of the 1950s might have thought about the future. Really an incredible game.

one of my favorites. it's the only game i've ever played where i had to take breaks due to the emotional toll the immersion was taking on me.

What was your favorite quest by the way? I liked the one in Arefu because it reminded me of Modoc from Fallout 2, just trying to resolve tensions between communities. Also really liked Oasis, again the game did a great job showcasing the unique characteristics of each little community.

it wasn't so much the quests i liked but exploring the wasteland and finding little scenes that told a story. though one of the quests i really enjoyed was going through that hospital to rescue the rangers on the roof. nothing particularly interesting stands out about it but it was one of the best quests to showcase what the heart of DC was like. LOVED downtown DC.

also, the pitt. that first part where you're trying to cross the bridge with all the cars and you can just see the black, ominous ruins of pittsburgh. simply amazing.
