I'm not entirely sure how the plumbing goes into the barrel, but ya its pumped out with a beer engine.

I'd estimate the temp around 55-60 degrees F? Call it 13-16 C. Dunno. Never stuck a thermometer in it.

I'd always assumed it was a british invention. My brother is way into brewing and that's what he calls them, so hey. To me they were always just a nameless pump the delivered libations to me.

We've got a few decent local brewers here in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

These guys make a decent hefe weizen


I heard their weekly brewery tour is well worth the visit.


This one has been making a good showing in the area lately. Really stepping up their distribution.

I went to a beer tasting at Mammoth brewing company is CA last week, can't say I was very impressed though. Their Double Nut Brown was good, but nothing really special, and the rest was mediocre.

I also bought a few beers from Russian River brewing company, which is supposed to be world class, but I haven't had a chance to actually drink them yet, so update still pending on that one.
