There aren't any native Americans on the roster or the coaching staff so I don't see how their culture of failure suggests anything about Native American culture. It's the name that bothers people, but maybe it could be seen as a tribute if they didn't suck so bad.

I've never even heard a native called redskin as a derogatory term. Usually it was "wagon burners" or "prairie n****r".

The NFL really doesn't have anything to say about this... if Redskins offends people, especially native americans, the name is going to be changed. The shit we did to Native Americans while we were pushing west is by far the most brutal and murderous actions ever undertaken on a large scale by Americans... and we've paid negligible reparations for it... I think they're owed the changing of the name of a Non-Profit sports entity.

Manifest destiny was brutal, but forcing a NFL team to change it's name because it offends people is retarded. Does changing the Redskins's name change the fact that a large segment of natives live on rural ghettos rampant with unemployment and alcoholism, ya not really.

well they changed the fighting soiux, even though soiux indians voted to support the name. the ncaa thought it was "abusive". and that was after there was a peace pipe ceremony in 1960s where some soiux granted und the name for perpetuity. at least englestad got the last laugh, that place is still deced out in fighting soiux regalia
