You're talking about a redskins team with their third string QB and they couldn't do shit with their starter or their backup. Yeah, the cowboys looked like the far superior team going into it. The division rivalry aspect means a lot more to me than the fact that the cowboys defense is held together by scotch tape and their offense had been over performing in an unsustainable way up until yesterday


I do expect the cowboys season to implode eventually but I don't think we're there quite yet.

I mean it was definitely an upset, but look how close the jets came to beating the pats or the raiders to beating the chargers. Division rivals beat each other up and hang with each other a lot, regardless of how they've been playing against other teams. In this case the Slurs hung all the way to overtime and pulled out a win. I don't think you should ever call a division game a lock.

That's nothing more than a myth. Statistically speaking, Dallas was a favorite. No game is 100% guaranteed, but Dallas was a safe bet.

I don't think division games are less predictable.

The Jets also almost beat the Packers (actually should have but loltimeout). And the Dolphins also should have beat the packers.

The Bucs beat the Steelers and Jax nearly did.

This is the nature of football. I think it's not often that a team is much more than a 2-1 favorite against any opponent. Usually that will be a Denver-Jax matchup or something of that nature (basically top 3 teams versus bottom 3 teams), but your standard good favorite is at best 2-1 (like Packers-Jets).

There's not much difference between the middle 20 teams in the NFL and a few bounces, injuries, or random bad days can swing games wildly.

edit: put it this way. The NFL season works itself out, but game to game is insanely high variance. Unless you're the Raiders.

Yeah but the packers had a rocky start to the season and the steelers are straight up garbage so that's bad teams almost beating other bad teams. Nothing strange about that.
