i understand the statement it's not testable because we don't have a lab running parrallel universes for shits and giggles and science, same as any history is, however, if you apply what happened elsewhere in the globe and the factors involved there i think it becomes plain that christendom was in fact a huge factor for why europe became the masters of the world and how western society became what it is today.
they behead people all the time in saudi arabia still. women are forced to wear clothes to keep them 'decent'. you think such principles where they'll behead you for renouncing religion would allow for true scientific inquiry? the enlightenment? it still hasn't even happened there! they don't do that in christian nations, or nations with predominate christian people's -- and they haven't. christians excommunicated you -- shunned you -- from their community. no christian nation has or had a law against apostasy that resulted in the death penalty, even during the inquisition, but 11 islamic countries currently do.
